What is an engine additive?
Diesel additives and petrol additives are active chemical substances added directly to fuel to improve its properties.
The main purpose of a fuel additive is to improve the fuel efficiency and quality and extend the engine's life.
There are various types of additives depending on the engine and fuels: diesel fuel additive, petrol engine additive, diesel engine cleaner for DPF, injector cleaner , etc.
Why use a petrol additive or a diesel additive?
Over time and as the kilometres go by, your vehicle's components (fuel system, injector, carburettor, etc.) become increasingly sensitive to fouling, thereby causing problems involving black smoke, engine jerking, lack of power and excessive fuel consumption. They thus need to be preserved to ensure their long life and performance.
Diesel engine additives and petrol engine additives are designed to be added directly to your tank when it is full to ensure proper mixing between the additive and the fuel and to improve the fuel's properties.
Petrol additives and diesel additives contribute to the car's performance, improving the fuel quality while lubricating the pumps. As a result, they provide better engine performance.
When should you use a fuel additive?
As a preventive measure, it is recommended to use a diesel treatment or petrol treatment every 2,000 to 4,000 kilometres or at each service.
As a corrective measure, it is recommended to use a diesel treatment product or petrol treatment product following one of the warnings below:
- dashboard pollution indicator flashing or continuously lit,
- problems identified after a gas analysis,
- significant black smoke emissions,
- Power loss,
- excessive fuel consumption,
- Flat spots on acceleration,
- unstable idling,
- engine jerking,
- difficult starting
Benefits of engine additives:
- They completely clean the fuel system
- They optimize engine and combustion operation
- They reduce harmful gas emissions
- They reduce petrol consumption
- They extend the life of the combustion system
